The History of the Jukebox
Many of you know probably a bit about the jukebox and it’s famous models like the Wurlitzer, but how about the real history of the jukebox? Travis Jovais got it all together in his problem statement for his Senior Design Project called The Travelitzer last year.
“The life of the jukebox is not yet over. Even seventy years after the first amplified machine was produced, jukeboxes are located in neighborhoods throughout North America in various taverns, clubs, and diners. If these machines are to stick around, and not to be only found in antique stores and magazines, they must evolve to adapt in the computerized world that surrounds them today.”
Check out the history of the jukebox he made, an interesting overview, and see this slide of a partystrands presentation last week at ETRE06. With partyStrands, the social jukebox, the future of interactive jukebox has definitely begun
